Columbus Air Force Base, 50th Flying Training Squadron Awards SBIR Phase III Contract to OpsLab

Contract Marks the Company’s Third Active Deployment to Support Squadrons Focused on Primary Flying Training

AUSTIN, Texas – Today, OpsLab announced a new contract to support the Airmen at Columbus Air Force Base (AFB). The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III award will provide automated flying squadron scheduling software to the 50th Flying Training Squadron. OpsLab’s software will automate the creation and reflows of the flying squadron’s schedules for sorties, simulators, academics, and ground duties events.

This contract marks OpsLab’s ninth SBIR Phase III from the U.S Air Force, and third to specifically focus on flying training squadrons. OpsLab products are in active development by over 2,500 U.S Air Force end users at 60 different flying squadrons.

“What sets SkySchedule apart is the power of automation,” said Sujeev Sanjeevi, Co-founder and CTO of OpsLab. “By combining the power of Operations Research and a constant feedback loop from our end users, we’re providing the U.S. Air Force a fully-automated flying operations solution that is already saving our Airmen up to 200 hours per month per squadron. Our company has a single-track mission: to enhance our military’s operational readiness. Saving big chunks of operator time through automated flying operations software is an important way to do that.”

“There’s a strong demand for fully-automated flying operations software from our training community, and the fact that 50th Flying Squadron is now the third training component to implement SkySchedule is proof the software is already working,” said Gen. (R) Stephen “Seve” Wilson, former Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force and OpsLab advisor. “With active deployments at 60 different squadrons across the world, the recent expansion to support air range scheduling, and a new engagement to support the General Atomics MQ-9, the future is bright at OpsLab.”

At OpsLab, we believe modern warfighters require state-of-the-art software platforms to maintain operational readiness. Today's forces rely on antiquated squadron operations tools that are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and lack the ability to predict readiness levels.

OpsLab leverages automation and innovative asset management software to enhance operational readiness for warfighters. Harnessing the power of operations research, our software eliminates the guesswork from squadron operations by automatically generating forward-looking flight schedules, instantly adapting to disruptions, predicting critical resource deficits, and streamlining logistics. This not only improves well-being for pilots, schedulers, and trainers, but it also empowers commanders with unprecedented capabilities to predict operational readiness.
